FNB is currently looking for a qualified Artisan HVAC Technician to join its facilities management team in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for an experienced HVAC professional who is passionate about maintenance excellence, energy efficiency, and working in a fast-paced corporate environment.
About the Role
As an Artisan HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across FNB facilities. Your work will ensure optimal indoor air quality, temperature control, and system reliability—supporting both staff comfort and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems
• Install new HVAC equipment for building projects and renovations
• Diagnose faults, test and replace circuits, and coordinate complex or emergency repairs
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders accurately
• Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, SANS building codes, and energy efficiency standards
• Manage tools, equipment, and materials responsibly to control costs
• Assist in developing preventative maintenance schedules
• Monitor and reduce energy and water consumption
• Estimate labour and material costs for work orders
• Respond to technical and client queries within agreed turnaround times
• Collaborate with electricians, plumbers, and other artisans
• Provide accurate planning, reporting, and administrative updates
• Participate in 24-hour standby for emergency call-outs
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
• Recognised HVAC/Refrigeration Trade Test Certificate (Artisan qualification)
• Completed apprenticeship in HVAC or refrigeration
• 3–5 years post-qualification experience, preferably in commercial or corporate facilities
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and ventilation layouts
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and digital control systems
• Exposure to BMS, chilled water systems, and energy-efficient solutions (advantageous)
• Ability to work with CMMS systems and basic MS Office applications
• Valid driver’s license (advantageous, especially for standby duties)
