Rainbow Chickens Agriculture Operations is seeking four (4) skilled Maintenance Handymen to support poultry operations in Worcester. The successful candidates will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of agricultural machinery, equipment, and buildings, applying electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering skills to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Minimum Qualifications
• Technical Senior Certificate or equivalent (N2 or N3 Technical Qualification)
• Valid Driver’s Licence (Code 8 or 10 – compulsory)
Required Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Electrical (70%) and Mechanical environment
• Previous experience in a poultry or agricultural environment will be an added advantage
Required Knowledge & Skills
• Boilermaking
• Welding
• Mechanical fitting and repairs
• Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
• PVC, plastic, and pipe joining
• General maintenance across electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance
• Inspect all agricultural machinery and equipment
• Perform maintenance and repairs on poultry-related machinery and equipment
Electrical Maintenance
• Carry out electrical maintenance and repairs on agricultural machinery, buildings, and equipment in compliance with SANS 0142 regulations
• Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on residential buildings in accordance with SANS 0142
Civil & Plumbing Maintenance
• Inspect, maintain, and repair water systems and main water supply
• Repair plumbing systems in agricultural and residential buildings
• Maintain and repair agricultural and residential buildings
• Inspect, maintain, and repair drainage systems
General Duties
• Inspect and sign off tasks allocated to Maintenance Assistants
• Complete daily maintenance and breakdown job cards
• Train and develop Maintenance Assistants to handyman level
• Manage discipline of Maintenance Assistants under direct supervision
• Participate in planning and execution of mechanical, electrical, and civil maintenance projects
• Perform daily inspections to prevent equipment breakdowns
• Execute all reasonable instructions from authorised management
• Perform standby duties as required
