Job Overview
MA Automotive Tool and Die (Pty) Ltd is seeking a dedicated and technically inclined Artisan Assistant to join its Manufacturing Division based in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The successful candidate will support artisans with the maintenance, repair and preventative servicing of press machinery, ensuring optimal production output while maintaining strict quality, safety and SHEQ standards.
This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience in an automotive manufacturing environment who are looking to grow their technical skills and progress toward a qualified artisan trade.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with repairs, servicing and maintenance of press machinery to meet customer and company quality standards.
• Support and carry out preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance schedules, job cards and work instructions.
• Accurately complete timesheets and maintenance feedback reports, submitting them to the Team Leader on time.
• Ensure all tasks are executed in line with company procedures, quality systems and work instructions.
• Actively participate in the departmental mini-business structure as per organisational requirements.
• Comply with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) policies at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist artisans during breakdowns and continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Basic technical knowledge of press machinery repair and maintenance
• Understanding of manufacturing processes within the automotive industry
• Familiarity with quality management systems
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Strong attention to detail and safety compliance
• Willingness to learn and grow within a production environment
Minimum Requirements
• NQF Level 4 / Matric certificate
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Fitter Assistant in an automotive manufacturing environment
• Exposure to press shop operations will be advantageous
• Recognised artisan trade qualification will be a strong added advantage
