Senior Plant Operator X7 – Fossil Power Plant Operations

Eskom is currently recruiting seven (7) Senior Plant Operators for Matimba Power Station in Lephalale, Limpopo. This permanent opportunity is suited for experienced plant operators with a background in fossil power plant operations, who are capable of operating, monitoring, and inspecting plant systems in accordance with established operational procedures and safety standards.

The successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient generation of electricity, supporting Eskom’s mandate to deliver sustainable power to South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) or N3, with Mathematics and Physical Science, AND

• NQF Level 4 National Certificate in Fossil Power Plant Operations

Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Learner Plant Operator or Plant Operator within a power generation or industrial plant environment

Skills and Competencies

Knowledge

• Ability to identify, record, and log plant defects

• Firefighting knowledge and emergency response awareness

Skills

• Computer literacy (plant systems, basic reporting)

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine plant inspections and operational checks

• Prepare plant and equipment for service, start-up, and shutdown

• Execute plant operating activities in line with approved procedures

• Participate in fire and rescue teams when required

• Perform additional operational tasks as instructed by supervisors

• Ensure compliance with operational, safety, and environmental standards
