Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical Assistant to join our team in Cape Town CBD. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to electrical incidents, performing maintenance and installations, fault finding, and ensuring that safety standards are strictly adhered to. The role reports directly to the Team Leader/Supervisor and occasionally to the Electrical Manager, while also supporting ad hoc projects as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend to Callouts
• Respond to electrical incidents reported via the Control and Helpdesk Administrator, independently or as part of a team.
• Provide timely and effective solutions to reported issues.
Electrical Maintenance & Installations
• Conduct daily checks on electrical systems and infrastructure.
• Perform repairs or outsource work when necessary.
• Maintain electrical installations in buildings and associated infrastructure.
• Identify faults during callouts and implement corrective actions.
• Submit weekly reports and checklists to the supervisor.
• Maintain a register of tools and equipment in the sub-store.
Fault Finding & Troubleshooting
• Follow checklist procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Identify electrical faults and implement practical solutions.
Safety Compliance
• Recognize and report unsafe electrical installations.
• Read and monitor tenant electrical meters.
• Work in accordance with SABS 0142 safety standards and other relevant regulations.
Ad Hoc Projects
• Assist with electrical-related projects as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
• Grade 10 minimum.
• Completed N1 & N2 in Electrical Studies.
• Knowledge of Electrical Trade Theory.
Knowledge & Technical Skills:
• Understanding of SABS 0142 and other safety standards.
• Proficiency in the use of power and hand tools for heavy current work.
• Experience with electrical maintenance, installations, cabling, and wiring.
• Knowledge of lighting systems, DB boards, generators, UPS, transformers, and motors.
• Strong fault finding and troubleshooting skills.

Essential Requirements:
• Trade Test Theory as a subject.
• Valid Driver’s License (copy required).
