About the Role
Seriti, a leading South African energy company, is looking for a Mining Operator UG (B3) to join their Kriel Colliery team in Mpumalanga. This role plays a vital part in supporting underground coal mining operations — ensuring safe, efficient, and productive coal extraction in alignment with Seriti’s commitment to operational excellence and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate small or large underground mining machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards within the mining area.
• Perform duties at heights and in confined spaces as required.
• Identify equipment faults and report them promptly.
• Perform additional operational duties as assigned by supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
• Grade 10 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and English.
Internal Candidates:
• Must meet multiskilling license requirements as per company standards.
External Candidates:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a coal mining environment.
• Must meet multiskilling license requirements and be willing to train on various mining machinery.
• Strong commitment to safety standards and company regulations.
• Sound understanding of mining safety systems.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
• Must pass a practical driving assessment and behavioural evaluation.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and under pressure in a production environment.
• Comfortable working at heights and around heavy machinery.
• Must have a valid K53 driver’s license and be able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness.
Advantageous Qualifications
• Previous underground coal mining experience.
• Mine-specific equipment licensing.
• Competent B – UG (Roof Bolt Operator) certification.
