About the Role
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our team in Kathu, Northern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical maintenance on equipment and machinery safely and cost-effectively to maximise equipment reliability and availability.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health & Environment
• Adhere to all safety standards and health requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping to ensure a compliant and safe working environment.
• Lead by example by promoting safe work practices and participating in safety programs such as SLAMs and HOHs.
• Participate in risk assessments and follow up on safety actions.
Equipment Maintenance & Performance
• Conduct inspections, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems and equipment to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Identify and repair potential faults or raise work notifications.
• Execute maintenance and repair tasks efficiently within set timeframes and budgets.
• Complete and submit detailed job cards and reports on time.
• Ensure tools and toolboxes are properly maintained.
Maintenance Efficiency
• Support equipment installation and commissioning according to maintenance strategy.
• Conduct post-installation testing to ensure functionality and compliance.
• Monitor maintenance progress and report any issues affecting operational targets or downtime.
Technical Support & Communication
• Provide proactive maintenance advice and technical assistance.
• Liaise with team members to coordinate necessary resources for maintenance tasks.
• Support supervisors and colleagues in achieving departmental goals.
People Development
• Identify learning opportunities to enhance technical competence.
• Attend training and upskilling sessions relevant to the role.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 or N3 Technical Certificate
• Qualified Artisan (Electrician)
• Valid South African Driver’s Licence
Added Advantage:
• Medium Voltage (MV) Certificate
Technical Knowledge:
• Minimum of 2 years’ operational experience as an Electrician
• Knowledge of PLCs and ability to perform high and low voltage fault finding
• Experience with:
• H1 and Profibus Communication Systems
• S7 PLC Programming
• Fibre Optic Communication
• High Voltage Networks (11kV)
• Understanding of lock-out procedures and their application
Department & Reporting
This role is based within the Engineering & Maintenance (ENG) department, reporting to the General Engineering Supervisor Services, at a band 9 (C1/C2) level.
