About the Role

Minopex is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our engineering team in Emalahleni. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support with maintenance and cleaning tasks, working closely under the supervision of artisans and maintenance supervisors.

This role is ideal for someone who is hardworking, safety-conscious, and eager to grow within the mining and metals industry.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Follow all company and client Health & Safety procedures.

• Identify potential hazards and implement control measures.

• Conduct continuous risk assessments while performing daily tasks.

• Adhere to environmental management and compliance policies.

Maintenance Support

• Assist in dismantling and reassembling equipment as per site requirements.

• Support with installations, maintenance, and breakdowns under supervision.

• Perform general housekeeping duties and ensure the work area is clean and safe.

• Help execute lubrication schedules as per the MMP system.

• Conduct plant walk-downs and equipment inspections.

• Operate mobile plant equipment when required (e.g., offloading vehicles, replacing equipment).

• Report maintenance issues, faults, or safety risks immediately.

Performance and Quality

• Maintain high output standards according to maintenance guidelines.

• Apply correct maintenance methods (e.g., greasing standards).

• Support artisans effectively to improve maintenance efficiency.

• Ensure 98% or higher compliance with scheduled maintenance routines.

Preventative Maintenance

• Participate in plant inspections to identify and report early warning signs of equipment failure.

• Keep equipment and work areas clean to prevent breakdowns.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification.

• Relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate) are advantageous.

• Maths and Science will be an added advantage.

• Valid Code B Driver’s License (preferred).

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Assistant or similar role.

• Practical knowledge of hand tools and maintenance practices.

• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures.

• Proficiency in English communication (written and verbal).
