Astral, one of South Africa’s leading integrated poultry producers, is seeking a Mechanical Assistant to join its County Fair Processing Plant in Fisantekraal. The successful candidate will support the maintenance team in ensuring efficient plant operations while upholding the company’s strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine maintenance on processing equipment.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and unscheduled process interruptions.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of equipment, including weekend work when required.
• Follow 20 Keys, HACCP, and general housekeeping procedures.
Minimum Requirements
• N2 qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (essential).
• Prior experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs within a poultry processing or rendering plant will be a strong advantage.
• Fluent in English and at least one other official language.
• Computer literate with good technical understanding.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when necessary.
