About the Role
Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team in Alrode, Alberton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems at Air Liquide facilities, road tankers, and customer installations. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical installations, machinery, and instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintenance: Perform preventive, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and installations at Air Liquide facilities, road tankers, and customer sites.
• New Installations: Complete new LV and MV electrical installations, including cables, panels, and associated equipment.
• Panel Building: Construct and upgrade electrical panels for new and existing installations.
• Inspections & Testing: Conduct flameproof and distribution system inspections, earth leakage tests, and portable equipment checks.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to Quality, Safety, and IMS standards.
• Reporting: Communicate progress, problems, and irregularities to the Electrical Coordinator or Supervisor.
• Logistics & Admin: Manage spare parts, maintain accurate job cards and record books, and responsibly operate company vehicles.
• Standby Duties: Be available for overtime and standby work when required.
Minimum Requirements
• Education:
• NTC4 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Matric and Qualified Electrician (Trade Test)
• Wireman’s License
• Valid Driver’s License
• Experience:
• 5–8 years in electrical maintenance, preferably in the industrial gas, chemical, or cryogenic industry
• Experience in constructing electrical systems and panels
• Expertise in hazardous locations and flameproof installations
• Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation
• Technical Skills:
• Applied knowledge of motors, generators, VSDs, PLCs, starters, cables, and instrumentation
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams
• Understanding of MV reticulation, switchgear, and power transformer maintenance
• Knowledge of SANS 10142-1 standards
• Familiarity with industrial gas equipment and applications
