About the Role
ALPLA Packaging SA (PTY) LTD, a global leader in packaging solutions, is seeking experienced Millwrights to join our dynamic team at our Lanseria facility.
The Millwright position focuses on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant production equipment through preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance. You’ll work with both mechanical and electrical systems in a high-performance, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As a Millwright, your responsibilities will include:
• Performing mechanical and electrical services and maintenance on-site.
• Conducting preventive and predictive maintenance on all machinery.
• Handling fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repairing machine breakdowns.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Installing manufacturer updates and modifications when required.
• Performing electrical fault-finding and repairs.
• Ensuring availability of spare parts and managing contractor activities.
• Attending to maintenance job cards promptly.
• Supporting new machine installations and equipment upgrades.
• Conducting regular inspections to ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintaining good housekeeping and ensuring a tidy working environment.
• Reporting any quality, food safety, or operational risks in line with company standards.
• Working shifts when required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
• Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent).
• N3 Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Millwright Trade Test Certification (essential).
Experience
• 3 years’ experience as a Millwright in a manufacturing environment.
• 3 years’ experience in a plastic packaging production setting (advantageous).
• 3 years’ experience in an electro-mechanical environment.
Skills & Competencies
• Proficiency in Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably D365.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing equipment faults.
• Solid understanding of electrical controls, including variable speed drives and motors.
• Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
