Redpath South Africa is seeking an experienced Qualified Fitter with expertise in underground shaft equipping, sinking, and maintenance of shaft infrastructure. This role involves installation, repair, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a mining environment.
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
• Section 13 Trade Test or Section 26D as a qualified fitter
• Experience in equipment installation, repair, and maintenance in shaft infrastructure
• Knowledge of workshop procedures, installation, and maintenance
• Understanding of legal requirements under the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
• Working knowledge of health & safety regulations related to winding plant
Key Responsibilities
• Report all incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts
• Conduct risk assessments for each task and implement safety measures
• Maintain quality engineering standards in all work performed
• Ensure tools and equipment are sufficient, safe, and in good working condition
• Conduct all legal inspections according to scheduled intervals and maintain accurate records
• Supervise subordinates and ensure adherence to the maintenance schedule
• Conduct planned maintenance as per schedule
• Ensure availability of all required spares and tools
• Maintain adequate housekeeping in the workshop and working areas for safe maintenance operations
