This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for hands-on technical learning, professional growth, and structured career development in boilermaking and metal fabrication.
Purpose of the Role
The Boilermaker Apprentice will receive practical and theoretical training in boilermaking processes, metalwork, and plate fabrication, under the mentorship of qualified artisans. As experience grows, the apprentice will take on increasingly independent and complex responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Practical Training:
• Assist with the fabrication and fitting of boiler components
• Prepare, clean, and maintain work areas and tools
• Complete assigned tasks and instructions
• Demonstrate care for tools and safety practices
• Apply skills learned during training
• Work through all required practical modules
Theoretical Training:
• Attend all theoretical training sessions
• Complete relevant academic modules
• Learn technical drawing interpretation and metalwork theory
• Apply theory to hands-on work
• Progress toward full qualification
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
• N3 qualification or technical subjects at Grade 12 level (advantageous)
• Good manual dexterity, sound judgement, and strong numerical skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings
• Able to identify and report faults or defective equipment
• Fluent in Afrikaans and/or English (read, write, and speak)
• Medically fit for physically demanding work
