Artisan Assistant (Reference Number: ARTISASSIST22)

Job Purpose
The Artisan Assistant supports the Artisan in performing installation, repair, and maintenance tasks across the organization. This role contributes to ensuring efficient operations, safe work practices, and high-quality maintenance services.
Key Performance Areas
- Assist the Artisan in daily operations and tasks, or work independently on routine tasks below artisan level.
- Support installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Help conduct inspections and functional tests on trade systems.
- Aid in diagnosing and resolving technical faults and issues.
- Participate in planning and executing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Promptly return completed Job Cards to the Planning Office for capturing and recoveries.
- Adhere to safety protocols and participate actively in safety training and meetings.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on safety equipment.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and compliance within the team.
- Conduct Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) observations.
- Support the delivery of high-quality maintenance services.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address maintenance issues.
- Assist in minimizing rework, defects, and downtime.
- Help manage inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Report any discrepancies or needs for tool and equipment replacements.
- Support cost-effective practices in maintenance operations.
- Assist with training and mentoring of junior Artisan Assistants.
- Foster teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
- Participate in Green Area Meetings (Toolbox Talks) to review safety practices and operational updates.
Job Requirements
Key Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of maintenance systems and principles.
- Familiarity with trade tools and equipment usage.
- Knowledge of trade-specific safety rules and practices.
- Basic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Valid driver’s license (compulsory).
- At least 1 year of experience in a maintenance or technical environment (preferred).
