About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Artisan Electrician with underground mining experience to support the Senior Engineering Foreman (2.9.2 MHSA, Act 29 of 1996). The ideal candidate will have proven electrical technical expertise, with experience maintaining, installing, and commissioning both LV and MV electrical equipment in a mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform advanced diagnostics, fault finding, and troubleshooting on critical electrical equipment.
• Ensure effective, safe operation and maintenance of all electrical systems and machinery.
• Allocate tasks to subordinates and contractors based on production schedules.
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with safety and design standards.
• Assess hazards and ensure proper risk control measures.
• Maintain and overhaul underground mining electrical equipment.
• Ensure all equipment used for live testing/hot work is certified and safe.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and performance.
• Promote safety compliance and proper housekeeping in work areas.
• Train and coach junior staff and apprentices.
• Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and cost-saving initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics & Physical Science.
• Recognized Electrician Trade Certificate.
• Valid Medium Voltage Certification.
• 3–5 years of continuous experience in electrical maintenance, including 3+ years underground mining experience.
• Vienna/Dover Assessment results.
• Valid EB/Code 08 Driver’s License.
• Valid First Aid Certificate.
• Medical Certificate of Fitness (for underground work).
• No colour blindness.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

• Fault finding and repair of complex electrical systems

Working Conditions
• Must be willing to work shifts, perform standby duties, callouts, and overtime.
• Role requires working underground and in high-risk environments.
• Employment is subject to qualification verification, psychometric testing, and security clearance.
