Gedex, a leading player in the Mining and Metals industry, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Electrical (Grading A) to support our skilled artisans in maintaining electrical infrastructure at our mining site. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about electrical engineering and eager to grow in a dynamic, safety-first environment.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 11 or equivalent qualification
• Studying Electrical Engineering (advantageous)
• 1–2 years of experience in an electrical role in mining or an industrial environment (essential)
• Good verbal communication in English and at least one other official South African language
• Physically fit – ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Clear criminal record
• Must be a South African citizen
• Working toward a recognized Electrical Engineering Trade qualification will be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
• Assist qualified artisans in daily tasks by handling tools, equipment, and material logistics
• Maintain and safely store electrical tools and equipment
• Disassemble and reassemble electrical components using hand tools
• Thread and connect electrical conduit and brackets
• Inspect and tighten electrical units and connections
• Work in accordance with MHSA standards and mine safety protocols
• Adhere to Gold1’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
• Work rotating shifts as required by operational demands
