Barloworld Equipment is seeking a dedicated Boilermaker Mechanical Assistant to support Boilermakers in the Welding Bay. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on workshop experience, and a passion for working in the heavy equipment industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist Boilermakers in daily mechanical and fabrication tasks.
• Support in the assembly and disassembly of mechanical and fabricated components.
• Understand and manage workshop tools – know their use and ensure they are within reach.
• Assist with rigging and lifting operations, using appropriate slinging gear.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and assist in general housekeeping duties.
• Help clean and maintain equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Support artisans with retrieving and checking parts for specific jobs.
• Promote and uphold a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Relevant mechanical or workshop experience is advantageous.
• Ability to lift or move up to 20kg, or operate lifting equipment for larger items.
• Must be willing and able to obtain forklift and overhead/jib crane certification within 90 days of appointment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to follow instructions under supervision.
• A valid Code B driver’s licence is an advantage.
• Physically able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Good understanding of workplace safety rules and PPE requirements.
