Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification(s):
• Grade 12 or N3 Certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science
• NQF Level 4 – National Certificate in Fossil Power Plant Operations
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Learner Plant Operator or Plant Operator in a fossil-fueled power station
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge:
• Defect logging and FLIP (First Line Inspection Process)
• Firefighting techniques and emergency response protocols
Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office, operational systems)
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure
• Safety and compliance awareness
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform daily operational checks and inspections of plant equipment
• Prepare plant systems for service, including startup and shutdown procedures
• Execute routine operating activities in line with technical and safety standards
• Participate actively in the plant’s fire and emergency response team
• Ensure accurate reporting and logging of equipment status and defects
