Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
1. Cash Handling & Transaction Processing
• Process cash deposits, withdrawals, cheques, and other transactions accurately.
• Balance and manage the cash float throughout the day.
• Identify and prevent fraudulent transactions by following ABSA’s security protocols.
• Verify customer ID and banking details before processing payments.
• Ensure compliance with the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) cash management regulations.
2. Customer Service & Digital Banking
• Assist customers in completing deposit and withdrawal slips correctly.
• Provide information about ABSA digital banking services (mobile banking, internet banking, ATMs).
• Promote self-service banking solutions to customers withdrawing under R4,000 or depositing under R8,000.
• Handle customer inquiries efficiently and escalate issues when necessary.
• Maintain a professional image that aligns with ABSA’s corporate standards.
3. Sales & Lead Generation
• Identify sales opportunities and refer clients to ABSA Sales Consultants.
• Promote ABSA’s savings accounts, personal loans, and credit services.
• Capture and follow up on leads using the Sales Management Database (SMD).
• Educate customers on secure banking practices and financial products.
4. Compliance, Risk & Security
• Follow ABSA’s safe-opening and cash-handling procedures.
• Conduct daily cash counts and reconciliation for accuracy.
• Adhere to anti-money laundering regulations and report suspicious activities.
• Manage banking security items like teller stamps, cash keys, and safe combinations.
• Keep up to date with ABSA’s fraud prevention policies and banking regulations.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
• Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required).
• Experience in banking, finance, or customer service (preferred but not required).
• Strong numerical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced banking environment.
