VACANCY DESCRIPTION:

The City of Johannesburg is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill short-term contract positions for Pointsmen under the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD). These positions are aimed at providing community safety and supporting traffic management across the city.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in community-related safety services to ensure public safety, based on the Batho Pele principles.

• Conduct school patrol duties to ensure the safety of learners and pedestrians.

Leading Competencies:

• Humanitarian approach to community service.

• Integrity in all aspects of duty.

• Professionalism and courage in handling public safety issues.

Core Competencies:

• Knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act and the National Land Transport Act (No. 51 of 1977).

• Customer and Service Delivery Management aligned with Batho Pele principles.

• Ethics, impact and influence in law enforcement and community engagements.

• Confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Requirements:

• No criminal record.

• Must be physically fit and able to perform duties effectively.

• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.

• Ability to work in a team environment.
