A leading mining company is seeking to recruit a qualified Boilermaker to join their team at Gugulethu Colliery, located within the Msukaligwa Municipality.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Boilermaker Trade Certificate
• Valid Code 8 Driver’s License
Experience Required:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Boilermaker
• At least 1 year of experience in the mining industry
• Proven experience working with complex welding techniques for TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery) repairs
• Strong background in structural and engineering drawings
• Experience in developing steel structures
Other Skills & Competencies:
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Physically fit for the demands of the role
• Comfortable using grinding, welding, and gas-cutting equipment
• Knowledge of boilermaker development techniques
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• No criminal record (Strict requirement)
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Analyze job cards and determine necessary maintenance/work
• Maintain accurate service records of completed tasks
• Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair equipment or structures using specialized boilermaking, plating, and welding skills
• Investigate, diagnose, and carry out trade-related maintenance and repairs
• Attend to defects identified in pre-start reports, breakdown sheets, and inspection reports
• Conduct both scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repairs
• Identify and order necessary spares and materials
• Align maintenance activities with production schedules
• Assist in the lifting of heavy equipment
• Perform welding, fabrication, and installation of metal components
• Ensure the safe operation of all tools, machinery, and equipment
• Maintain and enforce safety, health, and environmental (SHE) integrity standards
• Train and mentor subordinates
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure maximum equipment availability
• Inspect and maintain Ground Engaging Tools (GET) on machinery
