INTRODUCTION :
Komatsu has an opportunity for a technically minded individual with a passion for heavy earthmoving equipment to assist the artisan with general functions as an Assistant Artisan with at least 1 year’ experience in Earthmoving Equipment to join our team at Germiston.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Grade 12 with technical subjects, or Technical N3
- Other certifications are an advantage (forklift, crane, welding) but not required.
EXPERIENCE :
- 1-year general workshop, technical environment experience / experience working on earthing moving machines.
- Basic knowledge of workshop tools and machine repairs.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license (code 8) an advantage.
- Have a passion for Heavy Earthmoving Machinery.
- SHE – basic knowledge of the Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, good communication and interpersonal skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Machine/component assembly and disassembly.
- Component/ machine cleaning.
- Basic maintenance and housekeeping.
- Drives Komatsu service vehicle.
- Komatsu machine operation.
- Required to work overtime and standby from time to time and must be prepared to travel when needed.
- Assist the artisan in all aspects.
- Must be safety orientated as machine movement and component movements are present.
- Must have some knowledge on basic tools and the purpose of tools used.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- A Team player, ability to work well within a team environment
