Rainbow Chicken is inviting applications for two Handyman positions at its Worcester Processing Plant. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced maintenance professionals with an N3 qualification and a valid Code EB driver’s licence to join one of South Africa’s leading poultry producers. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing general maintenance support, ensuring that the plant’s facilities, buildings, and equipment remain safe, operational, and well maintained.
Handyman x2 Vacancy at Rainbow Chicken – Worcester
The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive maintenance support across the Worcester Processing Plant by carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on infrastructure, buildings, and equipment while minimising operational downtime and maintaining a safe working environment.
Minimum Requirements
- N3 qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant maintenance experience.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment in good working condition and ensure they are stored safely.
- Report damaged tools and equipment to the Maintenance Manager and repair maintenance tools where possible.
- Identify and prepare the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance work.
- Perform maintenance activities to minimise downtime and eliminate safety hazards.
- Participate in standby duties when required.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Liaise with contractors and other maintenance personnel.
- Repair damaged ceilings, attend to roof leaks, and carry out roof waterproofing and insulated ceiling maintenance.
- Paint walls, structures, equipment, and ceilings as required.
- Replace broken window panes, doors, hinges, and locks.
- Perform repairs to paving, fences, and gates.
- Carry out basic bricklaying and plastering.
- Repair or replace leaking gutters and downpipes.
- Complete wall and floor tiling where necessary.
- Accurately complete daily maintenance job cards and maintenance records.
- Troubleshoot, fault-find, and maintain warehouse equipment within the scope of responsibility.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company procedures and workplace safety standards.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of civil, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance practices.
- Understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair techniques.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Strong manual dexterity and practical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- Ability to prioritise work and perform effectively under pressure.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under supervision while following standard operating procedures.
