Stellenbosch Municipality is recruiting 12 Learner Fire Fighters for a 12-month fixed-term training programme within the Fire & Rescue Services Department. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who have completed Fire Fighter 1 (FF1) training and want to gain practical firefighting experience while serving the Stellenbosch community.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Proof of completion of a Fire Fighter 1 (FF1) course
- Medically, physically, and mentally fit
- No criminal record (verification required through the Local Criminal Record Centre)
- Must reside within the Stellenbosch Municipal Area for the duration of employment
- Proof of address and affidavit confirming residency
- Good communication skills in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages:
- English
- Afrikaans
- isiXhosa

Key Responsibilities
The Learner Fire Fighter will assist with:
- Responding to fire emergencies
- Fire suppression and rescue operations
- Emergency rescue services
- Providing basic medical care
- Fire prevention and public awareness programmes
- Operating and maintaining firefighting vehicles and equipment
- Maintaining fire station facilities
- Participating in training activities
- Protecting lives and property in accordance with the Fire Brigade Services Act (Act 99 of 1987)
Added Advantage
- Valid Code B driver’s licence
Special Conditions
Applicants will undergo physical fitness testing. Candidates must be physically fit with no cardiac or respiratory conditions that could affect operational duties.
Salary
Successful candidates will receive an annual salary ranging from:
R174,899.90 to R227,049.79
