Electrical Aide Job Overview
Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine is recruiting an entry-level Electrical Aide for its Engineering North Shaft division. This role is ideal for candidates looking to gain hands-on electrical experience in a mining environment while supporting qualified electricians with maintenance, installations, and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist electricians with maintenance of electrical reticulation systems
- Support installations, modifications, and repairs of electrical equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment
- Conduct basic risk assessments in the work environment
- Perform inspections and report defects or faults
- Assist with breakdowns and ensure quick restoration of equipment
- Help with cable installation, jointing, and connections
- Support maintenance of substations and motor control centres
- Perform lockout procedures and follow safety standards
- Assist with underground and surface electrical tasks under supervision
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
Additional Requirements
- Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence
- Operative Course Certificate (advantageous)
Experience and Skills
- At least 1 year of trade-related experience in mining, plant, or heavy industry
- Basic electrical knowledge and technical skills
- Ability to work independently and under supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to safety and compliance standards
- Ability to follow SOPs and complete tasks accurately
- Physically fit and able to work in mining conditions
