Role Purpose
- Rainbow Chicken is seeking a qualified Maintenance Artisan (Boilermaker) to join the Chicken Agriculture Division in Rustenburg.
- This role focuses on boiler maintenance, mechanical repairs, and industrial equipment reliability within a poultry production environment.
- The successful candidate will supervise a maintenance team, ensure compliance with safety standards, and support continuous production operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Boilermaker Trade Certificate (Essential)
- N3/N4 Mechanical or Technical Qualification
- Valid Driver’s License
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Boilermaker in industrial, manufacturing, or agricultural environments

- Boilermaking and welding expertise

- Fault finding and problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations
- Maintenance administration and reporting skills
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance and Boiler Repair
- Perform maintenance, repair, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels
- Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective solutions
- Maintain equipment to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards
- Conduct daily inspections and issue Certificates of Compliance
Tools and Equipment Management
- Identify and manage required tools, equipment, and materials
- Ensure high-quality workmanship through inspections
- Reduce downtime and eliminate safety risks
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ)
- Maintain a safe and compliant working environment
- Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
- Apply Total Integrated Management System (TIMS) procedures
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise and manage maintenance team and handymen
- Train and develop junior staff to artisan level
- Plan and prioritize maintenance schedules and job cards
- Communicate risks, delays, and resolutions effectively
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Health and safety compliance
- Quality and effectiveness of maintenance work
- Job card completion and reporting accuracy
- Equipment uptime and reduced breakdowns
- Timely fault identification and resolution
General Duties
- Train and develop maintenance staff
- Manage discipline and performance within the team
- Issue daily job cards and inspect completed work
- Maintain timesheets and maintenance records
- Order spares and equipment as required
- Perform standby duties
- Ensure all engineering work meets compliance standards
