Job Overview
Supreme Poultry is seeking three skilled and motivated Artisan Assistants (Mechanical/Electrical) to join the Processing Division at Tigane Abattoir in Hartbeesfontein. This permanent opportunity is ideal for candidates with an N3 Electrical or Mechanical qualification and hands-on maintenance experience in a poultry processing plant or similar industrial environment.
The successful candidates will assist qualified Artisans (Fitters, Electricians, Boilermakers, and Millwrights) with maintenance, repairs, and installations to improve plant reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• N3 Electrical or Mechanical Certificate
• Proven experience as an Artisan Assistant (poultry processing or industrial environment preferred)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
• Solid understanding of health and safety procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist Mechanical Fitters and Electricians with daily maintenance activities
• Adjust and align functional parts of equipment using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
• Align and commission new equipment after installation
• Assemble and install pipe systems, machinery, and related equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and mechanical components
• Inspect fluid levels, replace filters, and complete maintenance checklists
• Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools
• Order required parts from the store when necessary
• Complete DMS check sheets and maintenance schedules
• Ensure proper and corrective wearing of PPE at all times
• Strictly adhere to Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures
• Perform any other relevant duties assigned by management
