Programme Overview
Nampak is inviting suitably qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the Apprentice Programme 2026 at its Metals Springs operation. This programme is aimed at individuals who are passionate about mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and artisan development.
Successful candidates will undergo structured theoretical and practical training to qualify as Fitter & Turner artisans, gaining valuable workplace experience within a leading manufacturing environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Apprentices will be required to:
• Complete all prescribed theoretical modules related to the Fitter & Turner trade
• Participate in intensive on-the-job training and formal technical training
• Achieve the required pass rates for Trade Theory 1, 2, and 3 in line with programme standards
• Complete all practical and theoretical training within the agreed timeframe
• Conduct routine quality inspections in accordance with the quality plan
• Support production processes to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and efficiency
• Perform basic maintenance, installations, and repairs under supervision
• Develop strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and technical documentation
• Adhere strictly to plant rules, safety procedures, and company regulations
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Minimum N3 Mechanical Engineering qualification, including Mathematics and Physical Science
• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings
• Basic computer literacy
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime when operationally required
