Introduction

Komatsu South Africa has an exciting opportunity for a technically minded individual with a passion for heavy earthmoving equipment. We are looking for an Artisan Assistant to join our team in eMalahleni (Mafube Field Services). This role involves assisting artisans with general functions, including maintenance and repair, with at least 1 year of hands-on experience working with Earthmoving Equipment.

Qualification Requirements

• Grade 12 with technical subjects, or Technical N3

• Other certifications (forklift, crane, welding) will be an advantage, but are not compulsory

Experience

• Minimum 1-year experience in a general workshop or technical environment

• Experience working on earthmoving machinery

• Basic knowledge of workshop tools and machine repairs

Knowledge Requirements

• Valid driver’s license (Code 8) – an advantage

• Strong passion for heavy earthmoving machinery

• Basic knowledge of the Health and Safety Act (SHE)

• Ability to read, write, and speak English with good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Responsibilities

• Assist artisans in all aspects of maintenance and repair

• Machine/component assembly and disassembly

• Cleaning of components and machines

• Performing basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks

• Operating Komatsu machines (training provided where necessary)

• Driving Komatsu service vehicle when required

• Willingness to work overtime, standby, and travel when necessary

• Maintaining safety awareness at all times due to machine and component movements

• Using tools correctly and understanding their purposes

• Working effectively under pressure

• Contributing as a strong team player within a collaborative environment
