About the Role
Minopex is seeking a dedicated Engineering Assistant to join our team at Sedibeng Plant Operations in Postmasburg, Northern Cape. This is an entry-level opportunity in the mining and metals industry, ideal for candidates with a passion for engineering support, safety, and operational efficiency.
The purpose of this role is to provide support in housekeeping, maintenance, installations, and engineering activities under the guidance of the Artisan or Engineering Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification (NATED courses such as N3 Certificate advantageous).
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in the mining industry preferred.
• Skills & Competencies:
• English language proficiency
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures
• Familiarity with risk assessments
• Good time management and organizational skills
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an Engineering Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the Artisan/Engineering Supervisor with maintenance and repair activities.
• Lifting, positioning, and holding parts and materials during engineering work.
• Assisting in dismantling and re-assembling components as instructed.
• Loading and offloading materials and equipment safely.
• Performing general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assisting during equipment breakdowns, installations, and engineering projects.
• Observing safety tasks (e.g., fire watch checks, pipeline inspections for leaks).
