Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and safety-conscious Blasting Assistant (A3) to join our Mining South Division. The successful candidate will report to the Miner or nominee and play a key role in supporting blasting operations to ensure safe and efficient production.
Minimum Educational Requirements
• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate
• Blasting Assistant Certificate (essential)
Experience Required
• Minimum: 1 year of practical underground mining experience (e.g. Pump Attendant, PTW, Belt Attendant, Rock Breaker)
• Advantageous: 6 months of practical experience as a Blasting Assistant
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in face preparation before drilling
• Prepare and transport explosives safely
• Charge up rounds prior to blasting
• Ensure safe working conditions and maintain good housekeeping
• Conduct early examination and water down after blasting
• Examine the blasted face, wash sockets, and clean the face
• Demarcate geological features and assist with measurements and direction lines
• Assist with treating misfires under supervision
• Collect explosives orders from the Miner, submit them to the Magazine, and transport explosives to the section
• Charge drill holes and assist in blast connections
• Strictly adhere to the Mine’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Selection will follow the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Recruitment Operating Procedure.

• Appointment will be made in line with the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Conditions of Employment.
• A medical fitness certificate in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 is required.
