Job Summary
We are seeking a Mine Survey Assistant to join our Mineral Resources Division. The successful candidate will provide support to the Surveyor in carrying out daily underground and surface survey activities. This role requires hands-on work in surveying, measurements, pegging, equipment handling, and safety compliance.
The role reports directly to the Surveyor or nominee.
Minimum Requirements
• Education:
• Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Mathematics and Science.
• Certificate in Mine Survey.
• Experience:
• At least 6 months practical mine surveying experience in a metalliferous mine.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with underground and surface survey work, profiling, and measurement of pits, dumps, and stockpiles.
• Support the Surveyor with peg installation, offsets, drilling, and beacon monitoring.
• Conduct mini risk assessments before each task and ensure safe work practices.
• Check, clean, and maintain survey equipment; report any defects immediately.
• Transport, assemble, and safeguard survey equipment on-site.
• Measure contractors’ work on a monthly basis.
• Label samples correctly and maintain survey records.
• Keep storeroom and working areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform additional survey-related duties as instructed by the Surveyor.

Additional Information
• Appointment will be subject to medical fitness certification under the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).
