Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Plant Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance and preventative maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, and facilities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations, minimizing downtime, and keeping all equipment in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment and Machinery Maintenance
• Perform maintenance on plant equipment such as pumps, steam lines, pneumatic components, and machinery.
• Install new machines, equipment, and structural components as required.
• Quickly respond to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant.
• Read and interpret technical drawings for installations and repairs.
• Execute preventative maintenance routines to extend equipment lifespan.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and restore faulty equipment to full functionality.
• Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery to identify potential issues.
• Assist the building team with plant breakdowns and routine maintenance.
• Provide welding support for the SOILL fleet, including TIG, ARC, and MIG welding.
Health and Safety Compliance
• Participate in safety forums, including safety meetings and briefings.
• Follow up on tasks assigned in safety meetings, committees, or by management.
• Report any safety-related incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Attend safety education and refresher programs as required.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Distribute safety-related information when necessary.
• Wear appropriate protective gear while performing duties.
Employee Management & Development
• Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and company policies.
• Clearly define job roles and responsibilities for team members.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and assess progress toward goals.
• Provide coaching, support, and mentorship to ensure objectives are met.
• Implement development and training plans for continuous employee growth.
• Efficiently allocate resources to meet operational requirements.
• Maintain clear communication within the team regarding important activities.
• Plan for succession to ensure long-term business continuity.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
• Previous experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Computer literacy is essential.
• Experience in plant maintenance within a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of conveying equipment, gearboxes, drive systems, and pumps is beneficial.
• Expertise in TIG, ARC, and MIG welding is required.
