Job Description
PURPOSE
The role ensures the planning, installation, maintenance, and repair/replacement of all electrical and instrumentation equipment (MV & LV) is conducted safely and efficiently.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality
• Always behave safely.
• Adhere to FAMP and client policies and procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Attend pre-shift meetings.
• Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
Operations
• Implement maintenance schedules.
• Maintain transformers and substations.
• Repair and maintain all electrical equipment.
• Conduct plant inspections on key electrical equipment.
• Identify and prioritize equipment in need of maintenance/repairs.
• Plan downtime for repairs/maintenance.
• Perform risk assessments and follow procedures.
• Execute maintenance and repair tasks.
Maintenance
• Participate in maintenance planning meetings.
• Create job cards (R Cards).
• Execute engineering work during Maintenance days.
• Inspect equipment in the area of responsibility.
• Update and maintain information on the key-system.
• Perform general and processing maintenance/repairs, such as:
• Changing panels and sieve bends.
• Tightening panels.
• Cutting skirting.
• Unblocking panels and flood boxes.
• Execute planned maintenance tasks.
Managing the Team
• Coach and assist co-workers.
• Perform specialized maintenance on conveyors and fire detectors.
• Conduct legal inspections and maintain logbooks.
• Perform fault finding on electrical systems and cable installations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Trade Test: MQA/MERSETA preferred.
• Dual Trade Certificate as Electrician and Instrument Technician/Mechanician required.
• N3 in Electrical Engineering subjects.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• MV training/qualification.
• Siemens PLC and SCADA experience (advantageous).
SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of ordering PPE.
• Strong verbal communication.
• Understanding of unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Basic knowledge of planned maintenance documentation and procedures.
• Electrical engineering skills.
• Basic planning and risk assessment skills.
• Fault finding expertise.
• Familiarity with health and safety legislation and requirements.
