Job Description

Introduction

This position will be based at Sedibeng Iron ore mine based in the Northern Cape

Description

The purpose of this position is to assist with housekeeping and general operational activities as per instruction from the relevant Supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NCPO Health and Safety requirements
  • Identify hazards and risks while performing daily tasks and maintenance and take preventative measures
  • Comply with provided systems, practices, methods, standards and procedures of the job
  • Adhere to lock out procedures at all times
  • Comply with legal and operational requirements
  • Visual inspection of working areas to ensure workplace safety
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s Environmental Management Program and objectives and compliance with statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan

Qualification Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification  
  • Valid Section 13 Trade Test / Section 26(D) Certificate required 
  • Instrumentation certification/qualification will be an added advantage 
  • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
  • Own transport to attend to call outs

Experience and Skills Requirements 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a qualified Electrician in a DMS Plant
  • Medium voltage competency, including certification thereof VSD trained
  • At least 3yrs instrumentation experience and exposure with good knowledge on PLC and scada systems
  • Experience in one of the following smart relays; Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Schneider
  • Good trouble shooting skills 
  • Knowledge of maintaining MV motors will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Must be familiar with risk assessment procedures and provide input
  • Not colour blind
  • English language proficiency
  • Time management skills
